How Numbers works
Numbers is New York's pick-3 game. It's drawn twice a day, at 2:30 pm and 10:30 pm Eastern. Three digits from 0 to 9 are drawn, one at a time, so 000 to 999 are all possible results. You choose how to bet: in exact order (Straight), in any order (Box), or both.
- Pick three digits from 0 to 9. Repeats are allowed, for example 707 or 333.
- Choose a bet type. Straight wins only in the exact order. Box wins in any order. Straight/Box splits your stake across both.
- Play for 50¢ or $1, for the midday draw, the evening draw, or both.
Numbers odds
| Match | Odds |
|---|---|
| Straight (exact order) | 1 in 1,000 |
| 6-way Box (three different digits) | 1 in 167 |
| 3-way Box (one digit repeated) | 1 in 333 |
Box odds depend on whether your digits repeat.
Questions people ask
What time is Numbers drawn?
Twice every day: midday at 2:30 pm and evening at 10:30 pm Eastern Time.
What is a Box bet?
A Box bet wins if the three digits come out in any order. The more different digits you pick, the more orders there are and the more likely a win, but the lower the prize. See the odds table on this page.
Why does a result show as 046 instead of 46?
All three digits count, including a leading zero. Some data sources drop it; we always show all three.
